- Minimise occupational and public radiation exposure by keeping doses below regulated levels.
- Understand the role of legislation, regulation and licensing procedures and their application to XRF equipment.
Content
What the programme covers
Day 1
- Objectives and scope.
- Radiation fundamentals and X-ray generation: atoms and elements, radioactivity, X-ray production, and dose and exposure levels.
- Radiation protection fundamentals: exposure situations, the system of radiological protection, health effects, the quantities used, and the principles of justification, optimisation and dose limitation.
- Overview of XRF equipment, and open discussion.
Day 2
- Legislation, regulation and licensing: a review of the regulations, and the licensing process from application assessment through renewal, amendment and revocation.
