What trainees will gain
- Provide a comprehensive overview of the mineral exploration and mining life cycle.
- Review the fundamentals of geology and mineral deposits, including gold and base metals such as copper.
- Describe the mineral exploration process, from prospecting, discovery and drilling through to completion of the mineral resource estimate.
- Identify the components of feasibility studies, resource and reserve estimates, and economic analysis for mining projects.
- Review the steps and decisions required to develop and operate an open-pit or underground mine.
- Discuss metal processing and recovery, and the social and environmental aspects of mining: environmental assessment, environmental and social governance, stakeholder engagement, and rehabilitation and closure.
